Understanding Micron Ratings
Micron ratings refer to the size of the particles a filter can capture. These ratings are expressed in micrometers (µm), and typically range from 0.1 µm to 1000 µm. The lower the micron rating, the smaller the particles captured by the filter.
Filtration Types
Nominal Filtration
60-98%Captures a percentage (typically 60-98%) of particles at the stated size. More economical but less precise.
Absolute Filtration
99.9%+Guarantees removal of 99.9% or more of particles at the stated size. Higher precision but typically more expensive.
Common Applications
Microbial Control
Bacteria, Yeast. Removes microbes, ensures safety.
Sediment Removal
Sand, Silt, Metal. Reduces abrasion, protects equipment.
Final Polishing
Haze, Fine Particles. Achieve clarity in final products.
Viscous/Agglomerates
Paint Pigments, Gels. Filters clumps; consistent quality.
